Summit Forests was proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the 2024 Northland Forestry Awards, held at MacKay Stadium on 20 September. The event brought together over 450 industry professionals, all celebrating the hard work and dedication of individuals and companies in the Northland forestry sector.
The awards night, hosted by MC Te Radar, highlighted the exceptional talent, skills, and achievements within the industry. It was a night of recognition for the many people who contribute to making forestry a vital and thriving industry in New Zealand.
We are especially proud to recognise several Summit contractors who were honoured for their outstanding work:
- Emerging Talent of the Year: Jess Winikerei (Mold Logging Ltd)
- Roading Excellence: Nik Birch and Andrew Bradley (JSB Construction)
- Forestry Family of the Year: Cale and Dane Subritzky-Clark (Subritzky-Clark Logging)
- These awards reflect the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence shown by each recipient. Jess Winikerei’s recognition as Emerging Talent of the Year underscores the promising future of our industry’s up-and-coming leaders. Likewise, the Subritzky-Clark family’s award demonstrates the importance of generational knowledge and teamwork in the sector.
Summit Forests was also honoured to sponsor the Outstanding Health and Safety Management Award, which was presented to John Lumby of Northpine. Health and safety is at the core of what we do and we are proud to champion this critical aspect of forestry operations.
Matt Pederson, chair of the Northland Wood Council, highlighted the importance of recognising the immense talent in the region, stating: “There is a huge reservoir of knowledge and skills in this region, and the industry has to celebrate its achievements and the people that are out there working every day.”
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees – your contributions are shaping the future of forestry in Northland.
